From rolling up her sleeves at Ballymaloe to exploring food markets in London and discovering Dorset, LDE London was delighted to welcome Sasha Chetyrkina-Miller for a very special Legacy Award experience.
Sasha, who joined us from Ohio, USA, is the driving force behind Purplebrown Farmstead and Farm Store, championing sustainable food and supporting more than 100 local producers. So there was plenty of common ground – and lots to talk about!
Working with our wonderful LDE London and LDEI Ambassador Darina Allen, we helped arrange five days of hands-on learning at Ballymaloe Organic Farm School in County Cork, Ireland. From growing and preserving to fermentation and traditional food skills, it was an opportunity to get stuck in, exchange ideas and gather inspiration to take back home.
Sasha’s adventures also took her to London and Dorset, exploring markets, discovering local food businesses and making new connections along the way, with LDE London Co-President Cathy Sloman helping to make her visit so memorable.
And that’s what makes the LDEI Legacy Awards so special. They’re not simply about what one woman learns, but about what she can go on to share.
For Sasha, that meant taking fresh ideas, new skills and friendships back to Ohio, where her work already touches a network of more than 100 farmers, growers and producers.
One award. A wealth of new experiences. And the potential for a ripple effect reaching far beyond one woman’s journey.
It’s women supporting women, sharing knowledge across borders and creating opportunities that last. Exactly what Les Dames d’Escoffier is all about.
We loved being part of Sasha’s adventure and can’t wait to see what comes next!
The LDEI Legacy Awards are supported by The Julia Child Foundation for Gastronomy and the Culinary Arts.
